Today in all the services we remembered when 40 days after Jesus was born his parents took him to the temple, according to the custom, to offer him to the Father.  In their old age Simeon and Anna recognised him as their Lord and rejoiced that he had come among them.  Today the church puts away the nativities with the Magi and cribs and looks forward to the coming days of the journey towards the cross and beyond to resurrection.  At the 8am communion we had a procession with candles to the font; at the informal services in St Mary’s School and Milton on Stour Church we decorated and lit candles and prayed prayers
