Day 56 Revd Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day
It was exactly eight weeks ago that public worship was suspended. And now the government’s new roadmap for a phased recovery puts places of worship into Step 3, alongside hairdressers, pubs and cinemas, reopening “no earlier than 4 July”. That’s another eight weeks away, so it’s going to be a long haul.
But I’m glad they’ve ditched the “Stay Home” slogan, at least in England. Not because I want to go out but because it always infuriated me that the preposition at was missing!
For now, Stay Alert. That’s something we’re good at… “for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.”
Alleluia. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia.
