Day 57 Revd Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day

I’m very pleased that some garden centres have reopened today, and I expect you are too. Judging by the responses I get, my rambling thoughts you seem to like the most are about nature – the garden, countryside and wildlife.

Some of you have also been submitting photos to the church website. Last weekend a beautiful photo appeared of Yellow Irises (Yellow Flags) growing by the Shreen. Quite gorgeous.

Many flowers have a place in Christian tradition. The Iris is known as the “Sword Lily”, on account of its long sword-shaped leaves, and portrays the sorrow of Mary for the Passion of Christ. “A sword will pierce your own soul too” (Luke 2:35).

Alleluia. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia.
