Day 65 – Ascension Day Revd Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day

I’ll be in church again today as it’s one of the twelve Principal Holy Days in the Christian Year. (Quick Quiz: name them!)

I do appreciate how fortunate I am to be amongst those allowed to enter our churches alone at the moment, and I know how you yearn to be able to do the same. I pray that the day is near when our churches will be open to you all for private prayer, meditation, silence, and peace.

Today we remember when Jesus returned to his Father and made way for the coming of the Holy Spirit. His bodily presence was no longer necessary for his followers, but he promises to be spiritually present with us for ever: “Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

After forty days and for the last time here – Alleluia. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia.
