Day 67  Revd Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day

Three pheasants have been daily visitors to our garden this spring, a cock and two hens. Survivors, maybe, from a nearby shoot, refugees from a war zone who’ve found sanctuary, food and water. Signs of the kingdom.

I wondered at first if they were husband, wife and concubine – perhaps permissible in pheasant society. But I prefer to imagine them now as husband, wife and widowed sister, taken in to be cared for.

It made me think how we should never make assumptions about others when we don’t know their story. We shouldn’t ever judge (Matthew 7:1). It just makes for a better world.

Father, thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
