Day 99 – Birth of John the Baptist Revd. Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day
It’s tremendous news that public worship can – but locally might not – resume on 4 July, with restrictions. It means you won’t have to go on enduring these daily thoughts!
It will be a relief for me, too, I assure you, though it has been fun. One of the things I’ve tried to do along the way is to keep us in time with the rhythm of the Christian year, and today the Church marks the birth of John the Baptist.
John was endowed with God’s grace even in the womb, and was born to lead us in repentance and to know Christ’s forgiveness and life-giving love. Born six months before Jesus, he was Christ’s forerunner in life as well as in death.
